REDA !

Mo Geddawi
A Tribute to the legendary master Mahmoud Reda on his 89th birthday
I have known Master Mahmoud as an artist and as a giving human for so many years. I met him for the first time at Cairo sport club as sports man in 1956. In 1957 I joined the Reda dance troupe. Since then I learned and worked with him for many years.
Mahmoud's love for the dance was unlimited and was reflected in his powerful and energetic performances and his choreographies. His contributions to the Egyptian folkloric dance style is recognizable and unmistakable when we see the Reda troupe performances. He succeeded in producing his own thematic choreographies that still brought Egyptian feelings to the stage. This was a great accomplishment modifying the Egyptian dances for the stage without losing its " Egyptianity". This made the Reda troupe very famous and appreciated by Egyptian audience.
On the occasion of his birthday, I would like to thank him, so much for his stimulation of the Egyptian dance in the world. We will long remember among others the enthusiasms he generated by founding the Reda dance troupe. I am honored to be amongst the co- founder of the Reda troupe and wish Master Mahmoud a very happy birthday and good health for many years to come.
As ever
